Hi guys.
I have a t42p that I bought exactly a year ago (model 2373HVU) but I am only just now trying to get the bluetooth working because I just got my first bluetooth device, a motorola e815 phone from Verizon.
If I go to Function-F5 I can bring up the dialog box to turn the bluetooth radio on and off and that works fine.
However when I tried to use the motorola mobile phone tools software I got error messages that I had a driver conflict so I uninstalled the bluetooth driver and then downloaded the most recent bluetooth driver from the IBM web site: the IBM Integrated Bluetooth II software.
Yet I still cannot find my bluetooth radio listed in my device manager and when I try to run the motorola mobile phone tools software it cannot find any bluetooth device on my computer.
What I do have is a little bluetooth icon in my system tray and when I click on it I get a dialog box for bluetooth devices that should allow me to discover other bluetooth devices and let the thinkpad be "discovered' but I can neither discover other devices and other devices cannot discover my thinkpad. In addition, it appears that I am supposed to have a "my bluetooth places" link in my start menu but I have none.
Any suggestions? I've turned the bluetooth radio off and on multiple times using FN-F5 with no effect.
Am I missing some crucial piece of software to make bluetooth operational?

OK, I think I solved my own problem.
When I downloaded the bluetooth drivers from IBM they went into the IBM Download Director folder on the C drive. I was attempting to install directly out of this folder by clicking on the executable file. It would appear to install properly but the IBM bluetooth software would never appear in the add/remove programs and would never appear to installed.
Finally I tried to install it through the IBM Thinkpad Software Installer in the access IBM menu and then followed the rest of the 23 steps in the driver installer instructions.
It now seems to be working fine. I was able to link with my phone but haven't done anything else.
