Does your T41 fan also blow warm air

#1 Post by bunder » Tue Jul 13, 2004 1:56 pm

Quick question...

On the left hand side of my T41, it seems as though the fan is blowing warm air.

Is this common?

thanks

Leslie

Fans on computers blow outwards (some inwards - depends on the flow that was intended in the chasis) - so what they do is blow the hot air from the components out of the chasis to keep it cool.

There is a bug in newer Thinkpad models which causes the FAN to always run, even when the CPU is at cool 35°C!

Other (better Centrino solutions) Notebooks start cooling the system when the CPU is at 50°C. Since it is a Centrino, the CPU is around 40°C most of the time when doing office work. You see? 40°C is more than 35°C => FAN runs all the time.

Thermal maximum für Centrino CPUs is 99°C btw, IBM just does not care about noise/users here.
