Hard drive upgrade - performance results

I just upgraded my T42p Q1U from 60GB 7K60 to the 100GB 7K100 (both Hitachi).

Using HDTach to benchmark before and after,

7K60: average 30.5 MB/sec
76K100: average 43.3 MB/s

burst speed is the same between the drives (interface bandwidth limited).

The 7K100 is very slightly noiser. I really have to listen closely to tell the difference.

I also took the opportunity to get rid of the IBM pre-desktop partition since it never did what I needed it to do anyway.
