Ask a help for my T43

#1 Post by boomerang2006 » Sun Jan 08, 2006 6:18 pm

Hello
I have got a brand new T43 2668AJU just a few days ago.
The configuration is P-M 2.0G/512M DDR2/80G 7200rpm/ATI X300/Combo
But I met some troubles.
My laptop will resume every time I try to standby or hibernate
The status is
When I select "standby", the laptop seems to work to standby correctly, and all things calm down soon. the "standby" light flashes.
But only in ten seconds, the laptop will resume, seems somebody has waken it up by press "Fn".
So do the "Hilbernate". Every time after the machince come into hilbernate, it will resume in 5 seconds.

Not any warnings appears.

I have updated the video card driver, whose version is "8.163.1.1" now.

I have worked to solve this for the whole weekend but failed.

Has somebody any advice for me? Thanks a lot!!!

Hmmm, I do know that, in certain cases, the Thinkpad can resume if there is Network Activity; This is the "Wake from LAN" Feature.

You don't have to disable it all the time; I think that, somehow, the Wake from LAN option got turned on...I am trying to remember how to turn that feature off. :)

What does it do after resuming? There are some programs, like the Windows' Scheduler, that have the power to bring a laptop out of suspend. Does it perform anything like a Defragmentation of the HDD? etc. :?

I've read that Alcohol 120% can cause this problem. A running video can prevent Suspend. Check Scheduled Tasks for possible running applications. Check Away Manager if you have it installed. See also the following thread.

You turn all "Wake up" on event features on and off in the BIOS. You need to hit F1 at boot, go into the config menu and look there.

Other devices that can trigger events that can wake up the laptop are the modem and firewire if you have it ( like in the A31p ). There could be other devices that trigger wake up too.
