Can I cancel my T42 order?
I placed an order on 1/3/2006 and asked the sales rep about rumors pertaining to the dual core processor feature. Of course he pleaded the fifth. I waited a year to replace my Dell and finally concluded if I did not order one I would never get one.
To cut to the chase I should be able to cancel my order, correct? I ordered the T42 and really wanted the additional RAM that I knew would be available in the next product T-series line. The scheduled delivery date is 1/23rd. I feel that I was deliberately misled.

Call up Lenovo and cancel... but be warned that availability on Centrino Duo based machines is going to be really really tight. Don't count on getting one until February at earliest (unless you have some inside source for ThinkPads).

You can certainly ask the rep about cancelling the order and placing one for the T60; did you state you desire/need for more memory? If you didn't, and you just asked a question about the "Next T Series," then the rep could claim that you didn't state your requirements. Unless you are doing some *serious* render work or massive and computationally intensive tasks, I don't think you need to cancel your order on the T42.

I am totally flipping out here. I just needed to hear it from someone. I also wanted the built in wireless wan capability that you could only get on the Z series.K. I am willing to wait given my needs for increased Ram and 1600 x 1200 resolution. I waited this long whats another month?
Thanks for the shoulder...

I was very specific about my interests. The representative did not inspire any confidence in my decision. I made the decision based on it's reputation and the feedback obtained on this forum. I was not impressed with this individual. I was going to post my dissatisfaction but decided against it. Now I am simply disgusted with his lack of candor or his simply not knowing. Was he afraid I would end up with another rep if he did not close the sale? It is irrelevant at this point.christopher_wolf wrote:You can certainly ask the rep about cancelling the order and placing one for the T60; did you state you desire/need for more memory? Thanks again for the counseling.

I spoke with a different sales rep and they provided me with the RMA. They understood my frustration because they knew the latest product would be released days after my order. The origional sales rep denied knowing anything. In any event they made the situation whole and I will place an order hopefully in February.BillMorrow wrote:just call up and cancel your order..

Remember 4GB Ram will not be actually 4GB RAM, only 3 GB will be accessible. if you Install 3GB you will have 3 GB accessible, it happens because of Hardware addressing issues.
you can search on this topic on internet for more technical detail. I've a desktop that has this issue.
so all of you ... who thinks WOW 4GB RAM .. just be aware that it's actaully 3 GB. and I think it will be untill end of this year coz Intel has limited 64 bit capabilities on this chipset.
