Speedbooster and Intel 2200BG

#1 Post by jsmit86 » Tue Jul 13, 2004 10:24 pm

I have a Thinkpad T42 with an Intel 2200BG card. I currently use a Linksys 802.11b router. I am considering upgrading to 802.11G. Linksys also sells routers with speedboster. Does anone know if the Intel 2200bg card will benefit from this, or should I just use WRT54g - 802.11G?

Depends what you need it for. If its just surfing over a cable modem stay with "a". If you need file transfers go with "g" or just connect via cable and double your speed over G.

Your intel card won't benefit with the Speedbooster. It's proprietary and only works with Linksys WiFi cards.

BUT, get the router with speedbooster anyway. It's not much more expensive and it has more memory.

drop by, www.sveasoft.com and check out what they have going on.

I upped my transmit power by 3X and turned on extended channels to avoid interference with my 2.4G cordless phone.
