My mother just received a ThinkPad T43 for Christmas, and she called me over to look at it because he couldn't connect to her home wireless network (she’s got a Microsoft broadband wireless router and cable Internet).
When the machine boots up, it gives a message bubble in the system tray about not being able to connect to the network. When I press Fn + F5, it shows the radio as off, and when I press Turn On button, the radio comes on for anywhere between a few seconds to three or four minutes then spontaneously shuts off again.
I used the IBM Software installer to update all the drivers on the laptop, but that didn’t help anything. Has anyone run into this problem before and has a solution, or should I contact IBM/Lenovo directly?

T43 Radio Issues
You need to configure the wireless adapter on the thinkpad to the same specs as the router. I use Access Connections, but not everyone does. I can tell you this: I just set a T43 for a client, and wireless worked perfectly on my Netopia router and perfectly again on their LinkSys router. So, possible hardware failures aside, the T43 works well in wireless mode. ... JD Hurst
