Intel Pro/wireless LAN 2100 3b mini pci adapter PROBLEMS T41

#1 Post by semaj » Wed Jan 11, 2006 11:35 pm

What have people done to fix the wireless disconnect problem that i see in the 2200 also? i have a tp t41 and i cannot get it to stay connected always.

should i disable wzc and install only the intel drivers off of thier site?

should i upgrade to the atheros abg card(whats the full name i can look up for this card)? will this card work in my t41?

how do i uninstall the wireless power up automatic, disable, or always on icon that looks liek a wireless signal graph in my taskbar?

also i am getting ping times from my router of 143-200 to 50 when a t42 with the 2200 wireless gets constant 5ms pings. i have checked locations and it still didnt work faster. i swaped cards and still a problem? plugged in a t30 antenna wires still connected to t30 and opend the t41 and plugged them in. ping went down to 8ms instantly.

Can anyone help or throw thier 2 cents in here

I also had the problem with frequent disconnects with the Intel 2200bg wireless card, it would rarely stay connected for more than ten minutes, and usually required a reboot to connect again.

Three days ago I completely uninstalled the Thinkpad "Access Connections" software and reinstalled the latest wireless card drivers only that I downloaded from IBM, and let Windows control the card. Since that time I have not had a single disconnect, even over multihour work sessions.

Access Connections with different location profiles is a great idea if it only worked. In my case it was unusable due to frequent disconnects. The router I have is a Netgear 614.

YMMV

It works exceedingly well for me.

Try disabling that power saving garbage. Seems to fix disconnect issues for some people.
