Fan Error

#1 Post by nyk202 » Fri Jan 13, 2006 3:14 pm

Has anyone dealt with a Fan Error on their T42? I am debating whether or not to buy warranty to fix this. There is a 2 week process to reinstate the warranty which totally sucks. Is there any way I can fix this problem without dropping a couple of bills? Any adivce will help and be appreciated! Thanks.

You can replace the fan assembly yourself by ordering the appropriate parts from the IBM site, but I would not recommend it unless you are an experienced user. I didnt want to void my warranty so I send it in, got it about a week later with a much more quiet fan fitted, so I am happy with my choice.
