Help me with purchase of thinkpad

#1 Post by x41jps » Fri Jan 13, 2006 7:21 pm

hi everybody i am new in here :D and think it is the best thinkpad forum on the net

I am going to buy a thinkpad for my sis. She needs it for her schoolwork (light for transport) and surfing (and playing older games as sims). She wants a laptop that will be able to run windows vista without problems but then again i dont have so much money and must think about the budget. I have come down to 2 models: t41 sxga (model no: 2373-NG9) or t43 GMA 900 (model no: 1871-4AG [UC54AGE]). I can get these two for the same price (1300 euro) Which one should i pick? or do guys You recommend another thinkpad?

And btw i have searched for threads regarding this topic but i didnt find a updated thread (in the old threads people reccommend t41 but that is a long time ago 2004 or 2005)

i have read this thrad but it didnt answer my questions... the t43 i can adford is the gma 900 one. The t41 i am talking about has 1.6 ghz with sxga display which is very nice but i am afraid it will be too slow for vista. And is there a big difference in speed between t43 (1,8 ghz) and t41

is t43 (GMA 900) noticeably better than t41 in everyday use?

No. Atleast for me, the T41 would be far better in everyday use compared to that T43 because of.

Better display resolution.
Better graphical performance.
Bluetooth added.
Probably even less powerconsuming.

I would have to say go with the T41 as well for many of the same reasons already stated. :)
