Deletting the Rapid Restore image file

#1 Post by smakdown61 » Wed Jul 14, 2004 2:41 pm

I just used the rapid restore program to backup my hard drive. I saved it to the hard drive and copied it to a cd but now i don't know how to get rid of this 10gig file i don't need. Any ideas?

I dont know if this will be helpful or not as I made a backup to a computer (which was running Windows 2003 server) hard drive on the network but this is what I did.

1) Right click the folder in question and click on the properties tab.
2) Click the Security Tab (I know that Windows XP uses some simplified security settings that can be changed but I forget how).
3) Under the "Group or user names:" box click the add.
4) In the "Select Users or Groups" box that pops up add your username (which you should be logged in as an Administrator). Then click okay to close out the box.
5) Back to the Properties Window under the Security Tab click on your name and in the "Permissions" list give yourself Full Control.
6) Click Okay and I *believe* that you should be able to delete the directory...at least that's how I remember that I did it.

Hope that helps :D

There are many posts on this subject (Search for Rapid Restore or pre desktop area).
I have removed all the Rapid Restore (and anything else I could find), but this is definately not for everyone.
I use image software to back up my system. You should always have a means to do a back up if needed.
Here's a good thread:
