t41 monitor problems
t41 monitor problems
my t41 p has a problem just after boot up, the screen goes all scrambled. this seems to be triggered by the slightest vibration. ive no clue what happened, but it was sudden, and it wont work at all now . bad solder joint? help!!
Check your warranty first. :)
Hi!
If your TP is still on warranty there is no need to understand deeply what's going on - just bring it to service.
If no warranty - try it with external monitor. If no picture then check how much the replacement of motherboard costs. And in case you get picture it may be cheaper to convert your TP to desktop this way.
Or... either LCD matrix or matrix power converter to be replaced.
Good luck!

what is the lcd matrix? can it be swapped with a used one from another board?I bought another board locally, but it turned out to be locked and the seller says it wasnt b4. it has the soldered on security chip that has been mysteriously activated somehow and ive n0o clue what to do besides part it out. I cant get my money back or use it otherwise. the video problem, by the way, is gone with this board. I wonder, how flammable are these bad boys anyway? this t41-p was a perfect joy of a computer till this %@^&^% happened! Please help me!, I want my TPad back! It just aint right I tell ya! Thanks, Im done snveling 4 now.
LCD is screen matrix, liquid chrystal display. But it's not your case as I understand.
You can buy a couple of boards more if you like of course... but again I would strongly recommend you to bring TP to service. Then diagnostics will be their responsibility, and ordering right partrs also, you'll have to pay for final result only. and you can ask servicemen to use your board for TP fix, maybe it's still possible.
Why you did not go to service first time? Believe to my IBM serviceman experience - usually self cure is not cheaper, vice versa...

I bought my TP used. I havent got a clue as to its warranty, (which I doubt
is transferrable) or its origin, and I dont believe theres anywhere around my city (Austin, TX.- U.S.A.) that deals with these. If there is, they are well hidden. Do you know who to contact for a new motherboard and what they cost ?
