T40 - Unexpectded Power Off
T40 - Unexpectded Power Off
My T40 has been great over the year or so I had it. A problem that appeared today: while plugged into the power adapter, the T40 will unexpectedly shut off. No warning. Nothing in the event log. Once powered off, it will not restart unless I disconnect the adapter and bring it up on battery. I switched batteries - same result. Not a constant problem, but it has re-occurred. Anyone familiar with this issue? May not be a T4x problem - could be an adapter or battery (switching batteries would seem to discount this). Possibly a problem with the power supply.
Try checking the voltage output from the power supply. If it's like mine, it should measure about 16 volts or a little higher. If you do not have a voltmeter, try to find a friend that has one, or bring it to a store to have it checked. If the power supply is shorted and has no voltage output, that may account for your problem.
