Bluetooth usb adapter and T43

Hello,
I have an IBM T43 laptop (without bt) and use a Belkin Bluetooth adaptor (FT8001) which the lenovo sales person sold to me as a compatible adaptor.

I also own a Blackberry 8700c device. The OS is run is Windows XP SP2

The Belkin bluetooth adaptor is automatically provisioned by windows and I don't need to install the belkin drivers. Infact, to be able to sync my blackberry 8700c with my laptop, blackberry requires that I use the native Windows SP2 drivers and not belkin (which is fine, since this bluetooth adapter is certified compatible on the microsoft site)

Now here is the issue, and the reason why I am posting this message to the thinkpad forum and not the blackberry forum.

1. I have a desktop computer at home, which has _EXACTLY_ the same OS configuration as my T43 laptop. When I plug in the BT usb adapter into its usb port, the blacberry desktop manager detects it fine and syncs over bluetooth

2. When I try the same thing with my T43 (remember, same XP software as home), even though the bluetooth adaptor shows up in device manager, the blackberry desktop software does not "see" the bluetooth connection and shows "disconnected"

3. This is not the case with only my t43. A colleague also has another T43 and its the same on his laptop - the sync does not work over bluetooth.

I thought that since the OS in the two computers are the same, it is likely a T43 issue, since the same dongle works on the same OS in another PC.

Some ideas as to why this may be happening (don't know how to fix though)

1. The t43 USB port may be getting less power ? I disconnected all other USB ports and only plug in this usb/bt dongle - same situation (laptop was powered). I then tried to attach a powered USB hub, still same

2. There are some conflicts with other drivers ?

So it looks like The Belkin USB dongle has an issue on a T43 when trying to sync with a Blackberry 8700c. I tried the blackberry forum - no resolution. I tried Belkin support - the guys are ridiculous. So now the thinkpad forum is my final hope
