stupid questions...to change HD on t43p

#1 Post by u.vivarelli » Thu Jan 19, 2006 6:35 pm

I would change the HD in my t43p 14'.
Actually I have a 80Gb 5400rpm and I would buy a 7200rpm.

What model can I buy? SATA o P-ATA? The only problem with the new version of bios is the "beep" on the boot?

can you tell me a good product for my TP???

You would have to get a PATA drive; although, it is accessed via a SATA-PATA bridge and via a SATA controller. So at some level to the OS, it will appear as if it is actually a SATA HDD.

As to the 2010 Error, you will get the beep and delay with the latest BIOS update; that update takes away the requirement for user intervention for the continuation of the boot process.

Take a look at the HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual) for the Thinkpad T43 model you have. I have the same HDD model that you do and do some pretty heavy work on it; I find it is pretty good for my purposes as well. You might also want to look into a 2nd HDD Adapter for the T4X Series.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
