ThinkVantage Access Connection Problem

Is there any real surprise that some of us area having problems with this when we're dealing with 'supplicants', 'VBS scripts', and 'stacks', Riddil?! That's all WAY beyond me But thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot that for us! And here I thought a 'supplicant' was someone who asked his *god* for something--which is about where trying to get AC to work had left me

Trust me... I can completely identify with you. The sad truth is that it *doesn't* have to be this difficult. It's just a poor installer in the intel driver / supplicant package that creates all the headaches. But since the nastiness is there, it means it's a huge pain in the [censored] to get it working. :-/

Hi guys, I am a newcomer to this forum, but I am experiencing the exact same problem with the newest AC (4.23) and 2200BG driver (9.0.4.33). It was working fine until I accidently installed the intel utility also, not just the drivers. I tried to uninstall all software related to wireless with Your uninstall! (So I am not a write-only person:) ) and it all went fine, but the problem still persists. One time in device manager when I checked the state of the adapter the ON/OFF switch also disappeared.

What else should I try?
Among the protocols I can not see the AEGIS, even if I installed the drivers for the adapter as they are ment to be installed.

BTW, I am using XP with SP2, it that makes any difference.

update1: I decided to uninstall Access Connection and repair my installation of the new Intel drivers and utilities. I can connect using Windows.

I will try to reinstall an old version of Access Connection (v4.12 I think).


update2: I can connect with Windows but not Access Connection with the newest drivers. I found that Access Connection do not have the right MAC address for the wireless adapter.


update3: I tried AC v4.23 but it didn't work(become non-responsive often) as well. and it's very slow on my T42. any ideas?

Well, I got my problem solved.

When I have been installing the Intel drivers, I unchecked to install the PRO/Wireless software. This caused the unpresence of the AEGIS protocol, becouse the 801.x supplement is only installed when you check the PRO/Wireless software too, so I installed it again (from the lenovo site, not Intel) and using the default settings. Previously I installed the software from the Intel website, but than it has set up to use its own application to manage WiFi, so this is why I uninstalled that part and choose only the drivers. When using the lenovo package, I did not experience that.

After that I only reinstalled Access Connection, without even uninstalling it's previous version. I am using the newest package for both 2200BG drivers and AC.

I tought, that the supplement is part of the driver package, since it acts more like a driver to me, and is will be installed without the Intel wireless app also, but I was wrong.
