If you want to wait, you can go with the T60 as it will pull some impressive performance with AutoCAD. If, however, you would like to get your system a tad sooner; I would go with a T43.

Take a look through the tabook.pdf and see which one(s) strike(s) your fancy.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

T43p with 15" UXGA Flexview and FireGL V3200 is what I'd go for. It's way to early to go for a T60, IMO.

Both the T series (4:3 screen) and Z series (widescreen) offer impressive performance. I think it boils down to whether you prefer widescreen or 4:3 aspect ratio on your display.

I'm a programmer, and I've used both 16:10 and 4:3 notebooks while writing code. I prefer the 4:3 simply because I can get more lines of text on the screen at a time. Since I never watch movies on my computer, there was no good reason to stay with 16:10.

If you can, try using AutoCad on a both screen formats and hopefully that will help narrow your choices.
