T43 - Backup IBM_SERVICE partition - how can i do ?

#1 Post by b:z » Tue Jan 24, 2006 4:30 am

I intend to install Unix systen (freebsd), and i want to have a well backup to ensure that everything is backed up.

For my data: It's not complex, just copy to another computer or another backup media.

But, for IBM_SERVICE partition, i'm really not sure how can make a backup. I know that some tool can do this such as Ghost ( ghost entire partion IBM_SERVICE), however do you think it is the good solution for restore later (restore original hardisk as the first time)?

Please show me your idea and your instruction.
Thank you very much.

Just burn your own Recovery CD/DVD.

As Zeitgeist said, make the Recovery CDs/DVDs

There should be six CDs that are made or one CD and one DVD.

Let us know how the FreeBSD install goes. ;) :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Start> Access IBM> Create Recovery Media

That should be the default path to create the recovery disks. HTH :)

If you use Acronis True Image, it sees the partition, and gives you the opportunity to back it up.

Depends upon your version of Rescue and Recovery. Rescue and Recovery version 3 has it at: Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage > Create Recovery Media.
