Wear on electronics
I dont think you should give this a thought. The advantage of the wireless module will be that its easy and relative costless to replace.
I would have bigger thought about batterylife or LCD panel life.
My guess will be that a wireless card in average will last + 5 years in daily use.

Ahh, in that case your fan will certainly wear out long before your wifi or ethernet.
The 7/24 workloads will also keep your machine continously warm, which will shorten the lifetime of any LiIon battery you have in the machine as well.. significantly. You might be best off removing any battery.
Unless you're frequently inserting and removing an ethernet cable from the jack, there are no 'wear' parts involved in either ethernet or wifi, of course.

The only "wear" involved could, theoretically, be that of the semiconductor junctions in the tiny transistors, but this is an incredibly tiny amount; seeing as how the CPU, epspecially if left on 24/7, will go through *far* more and will still last many years without a problem. The WiFi and Ethernet cards should be OK.

Only thing you have to "worry" about is that 802.11 (wireless) is rather power intensive. Consequently, if you're running off of a battery while using your wireless, you'll see your battery life decrease.
Also, hardwired ethernet has more (almost twice as much) potential bandwidth. Ethernet is (usually) a max of 100 Mbits/sec, while wireless is (usually) a max of 54 Mbits/sec. Further, the signal is inherently better when you're plugged up.
But, with all that said, I'd go with the wireless! As long as you're within 50 feet of the base, you'll generally be ok with the signal and the freedom is awesome!
Nothing like taking your laptop into the bathroom with you, you know!
