ThinkPad T42 and TV-OUT

#1 Post by Dmitry Ivanov » Wed Jan 25, 2006 7:55 pm

Sorry if this is a typical question but I cannot find answer for it. So, there is ThinkPad T42 with Mobility Radeon 9600 witch has S-Video TV-OUT.
I plug TV, go to the Control Panel and turn it on. Than I turn on Theatre mode and run DivX player, all are OK, on TV I can see my movie. But if I close notebook Theatre mode goes to turning off mode and TV becomes as primary display, if I open notebook all back to normal. How can I set Theatre mode with closed notebook?

MM i'm not too sure what is Theater mode?

When I watch a divx, I use Windows Media Player Classic, it's an excellent freeware. Make a custom profile (Fn+F7) and you should be set, unless you really need the divx player...

If you are watching a video on the TV from the S-Video out jack of the ThinkPad, you have to set the display to Theater Mode, otherwise you will not see anything on the TV. When you are not in Theater Mode, you can see the desktop on the TV, but when you start a video, the TV will go blank.

Theater Mode is one of the Advanced display settings under the Overlay tab. At least this is true with the ATI display adapter.
