ATI problem with Thinkpad t41

#1 Post by ripoflive » Sat Jan 28, 2006 10:14 am

I have an IBM thinkpad t41 with the ATI 9000 mobility. My laptop works perfectly fine except when I try to play *ANY* game that uses direct3d/opengl my lcd screen gets distortion, flickers, and it seems like artifacts are all over the place! I tried everything, including changing drivers, playing with refresh rate (60 and lower) and other stuff. Now heres the weird part, when I am running on battery, everything works fine and there is no flicker........ :cry:

BTW, when I play the game through the monitor or TV, there is no problem.....If I dont get this fixed, I might just format windows or send it back for a replacement..... :oops:

GMassimo translation;

I with T41 have the same problem pure and ATI 9000 Radeon Mobility 32 MB, I have tried reinstallare the drivers but nothing, removing the feeding reduces a lot the problem fine nearly to disappear. Using Google earth the tft it begins to sfarfallare in way much boring, I have sent it to IBM in attendance

----------------------------------------------------
I myself am not experiencing such problems with Google Earth.....
I have not used any other 3D apps or games however...

I did experience something similar when I tried to install ATI driver
from MS Update site...so I am inclinded to agree that this could be
driver related.

On the other hand, If, as you say, the problem is corrected by using battery power...the problem might be in your settings...I would suggest
going into the 'power options properties' & or the ATI control pannel & making some changes....
I defer to thoose more knowledgable as to exactly which changes to make...
(My settings are;
Power options; High System Performance
ATI;Default w/ sRBG color space profile

cruz, I think you need to work on your Spanish.
ripoflive, here is the current video driver: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-41918 I play games on my T41 w/Radeon 9000 without trouble. Also, run windows update and make sure you are running the latest directX (9.0c)
