Where to get replacement screw caps for T40?

#1 Post by K. Eng » Fri Jul 16, 2004 9:12 pm

I have taken my ThinkPad apart a few times (to install mini-PCI, track down noise problems, etc) and after more than a year some of my screw caps are pretty bent or dented.

Anyone know where I can get replacements? Thanks :)

try calling IBM... they might ship you some for free and to your doorstep in 1-3 business days. i'd make sure you tell them that you had to open it up to track down problems.

I thought you had to buy them.

I fixed a creaky palm rest and broke the head off one of the screws - So I have 2 missing scews from my palm rest. I woudn't mind putting new ones in. I really don't notice them, though.

BTW, I got a new palm rest and IBM doesn't ship the screws with them - Which makes no sense to me. Why send you a new palm rest with no screws? Ok, I guess they are assuming all the screws are there and only the palm rest is being replaced...However, some of us do break those tiny screws :)

TP that came with a/b cards have a tamperproof screw. I guess that's what you broke.
