Replace keyboard

#1 Post by raabjerg » Mon Jan 30, 2006 6:56 am

Hello.

I live in Denmark, and am considering buying a T42p on ebay. The only problem is the US keyboard layout.

I have found a place where I can buy a replacement danish keyboard. My question is: Is it difficult to replace the keyboard on a T42p, and will it void standard IBM warranty?

If anyone can think of other issues I should be aware of, feel free to comment :-)

Best regards,
raabjerg

Hi

I have replaced the keyboard on my T41p. It's no problem at all. Follow this link. http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-50233

I bought the keyboard from the Swedish IBM/Lenovo website, it comes complete with all you need exept the screwdriver.

Regards,

Mats

I don't seem to be able to find a replacement keyboard on the danish IBM/Lenovo website.

Do you have a quick link for where I could look?

Very nice, thanks a bunch!

One last question: Anyone know if there is a quality difference between the NMB and Chicony keyboards?

I think so! I bought the z60 with Chicony and it was a plastic-like feeling

Traded the machine in for my T43 which I'm happy with.

How much do you pay for the keyboard? I' considered buying my comp in the states due to the heavy taxes in DK.

Found it through the links Mats provided, a NMB keyboard for about 350 DKK.

I just checked with the customs authorities, who informed me that there is no duty on computer equipment, but there is still the 25% VAT that needs to be paid when having the computer shipped. (this will need to be done before the equipment can be delivered to you)
