Infrared PDA setup?

#1 Post by mrbjr » Sat Jul 17, 2004 11:51 am

I have a Palm Pilot I would like to set up on my T42p. Can anyone walk me through the process. My T41 would see the Palm whenever it was close right out of the box, this one doesn't seem to work the same way. How can I tell if the infrared is actually functioning?

Right-click on the hotsync icon in your system tray. Put a check next to the Infrared option. Make sure your PDA is set for Infrared hotsync'ing. Initiate hotsync with your PDA and your ThinkPad should recognize it.

Most likely no joy because you got to enable the IR port on your TP. After that you will have joy.

I sync my t3 with bluetooth. In the past I have had trouble with the IR port interfearing with another device. This was a long time ago and I doubt it will on the new ThinkPads.

Thanks Greg, but I have the built in infrared device enabled and still no joy. There are a couple other options with different protocols, but nothing I'm familiar with

Use an older Tungsten|T here with my relatively new T42 (-FS3 ) "out the box". It detects the palm when it gets near... so there aren't any inherent issues with this setup

For the record, here is my IR setup (properties, advanced from device manager) (most likely default though and therefore the same as yours :? )

Infrared Transceiver A value: IBM SC-20H2987

Infrared Transceiver B value: SIR transceiver

Max connect rate value: 4,000,000 bps

driver: National Semiconductor 3/17/2001 1.0.0.0

maingray, thanks. The answer was in the setup, my setup automaticlly chose 115,200bps instead of 4,000,000, changed that value and i'm :D

Thanks, Bob
