T40 and IBM Mini Dock

#1 Post by kkapoor » Sat Jul 17, 2004 9:10 pm

I have a T40 that is often connected to an IBM mini dock. The mini dock has a 4 port USB 2 hub built into it. I have an external USB 2 hard drive connected to the mini dock.

Often I get the message in Windows that there is a 'Hi Speed USB device plugged into a non Hi Speed USB port' - or something along those lines.

I don't know why this keeps on happening. I have to reseat the device and reboot to get it to work at the USB 2 speeds again.

Is anyone experienceing the same issues or have any solutions?

Thanks

Check out microsoft web site for steps to resolve.

Early versions of XP did not support USB 2.0 Do you get this error when the drive is plugged in directly to you T40's USB ports (while it is in the dock?) Sometimes, USB components work fine with the mobo ports but have problems through a hub.

1. T40's all come with SP1 pre installed so the Pre SP1 issue doesn't seem to be the problem.

2. I have no problems when the drive is connected directly to T40's USB ports.
