#1 Post by naro » Thu Feb 09, 2006 8:47 pm

i was surfing thru eBay Uk and i saw a bluetooth upgrade for my T42. mine does not come with the bluetooth. Do u all think this is an worthy upgrade?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1

if i install the bluetooth card, i won't get the bluetooth indicator that u'll find below the LCD...

i know there's a part # you can order that includes the little bluetooth thing. IIRC, there's already a light there.. just no cutout for the symbol ( i could be wrong on this..)

also, some laptops have the antenna's for it already built in, and some don't. i know mine does..

I would question that auction - do you already have an antenna on your system (you can tell by looking under the existing CDC card - if you have it there will be a white cable) as the antenna that they picture does not look like a T4* internal one. If you are used to servicing notebooks then it is fairly painless process to fit the antenna and card. If you want all the cables from the antenna to be tidy it is likely that you will have to remove the lcd, the lcd bezel, the keyboard and the keyboard bezel - so check the HMM and see if you are OK with this.

Not having the led is not a problem - if you use the thinkpad bluetooth software you can tell by the bluetooth icon in the taskbar - red means not turned on, white means turned on, green means doing something.
