Slow when typing in letters in windows xp

#1 Post by lid » Fri Feb 10, 2006 4:23 pm

Hi there..

I have... kind of a problem.

Sometimes when, for example, I type in messages in MSN messenger, the letters takes like one second per letter to type. doesnt matter how fast I type... (Exept slower than a sec per letter  )
But after 20-30 letters á 1 sec, the typing is set to normal again, and the letters comes as fast as I type.
What can I do to prevent this disturbing behavor of my laptop?

It's a T40 256 mb, winxp pro sp2, nothing more to update in win update!

Thanks a lot, Jesper Cronelid, Gothenburg Sweden

Solution #1: 512MB or 1GB of Memory

Solution #2: Update; Clean; R&R Backup; clean out Windows; put Data back on

Solution #2 is meant for *serious* cruft build-up. ;) :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Probably something is running that shouldn't be. I just finished a client workstation rebuild for a client. It has 256Mb of ram and runs very well. We are going to add 256Mb, but it certainly doesn't run as badly as you say yours does. If cleaning out spyware doesn't solve it, a rebuild might be in order as Chris points out.

And leaving draco2527 at the side of the road, it is *not* an XP problem - that was a foolish answer on their part. ... JD Hurst

Thanks....
But I've already made a reset/recovery of the computer a few days ago...

I have a few apps running, but everything else on the computer runs just fine. It's just the typing :?
Strange

I'll see what happens when I buy a 512 stick.
