where to buy a T42 or T43, and insurance issue
where to buy a T42 or T43, and insurance issue
Hi everybody.
I´ll be in the US for a month and I want to buy a TP while I´m there.
I will order from here and have it shipped to a friend's address.
Is it better to order from Lenovo or newegg or some other vendor?
Im thinking that newegg is better in case I want to return, as Lenovo
takes 2 weeks and it might not be enough time.
also, is the standard warranty valid worldwide?
thanks a lot.

if it were up to me i order from lenovo directly. if you want to save a few bucks try local office depot. at time they offer mail in rebates. but since you will only be in US for a month, you can't get the rebates. but OD provides you with a hands on experience.

Thanks. anyone can recommend where I should buy?
some more questions on my mind:
- I'm facing the T42 vs T43 dilemma. I was leaning towards T42 because of what I've read about noise fan in T43. However currently there are good deals on T43's
(I would save about 200$ with respect to a similarly configured T42). Is the noise problem still there or did they improve something?
- I definitely want a 14' as 15' is too big for my travel needs. I don't do much fancy graphics: is XGA enough?
- It'd be nice to have 7200 HD: are there models with XGA and 7200 HD?
thanx

Not _all_ T43s are prone to the noise problem. There's a good chance that you'll get one that will not have this problem. And if it does - you'll notice it quickly enough, and then you can return it during the 30-day trial period. The T43 and T42 are so close in terms of features and performance, that I'd allow the $200 difference to be crucial. Go with the T43.eric69 wrote:- I'm facing the T42 vs T43 dilemma. No one will know better than you whether you can work comfortably on 1024x768.eric69 wrote:- I definitely want a 14' as 15' is too big for my travel needs. I don't do much fancy graphics: is XGA enough?
Not sure, but 5400 isn't that worse than 7200. Or you can get SXGA+.eric69 wrote:- It'd be nice to have 7200 HD: are there models with XGA and 7200 HD?

Do not order from Lenovo. If you will only be in the US for a month, you might have to leave before the machine gets to you due to shipping delays that sometimes hold up machines for more that a month at a time.
Check out the "Off Topic thread" and you will see just how many people are still waiting for their machines.
If you need a standard configuration without too many bells and whistles, I suggest you go to an Office Depot or some place like that and just pay and carry. You still get 30days to try it out and bring it in for exchange if something is wrong. You will be charged a re-stocking fee of about 10% if you change your mind and there is nothing wrong with the laptop.

too late... I ordered a T43 with SXGA from Lenovo.
Now I'm worried, I absolutely need it as soon as I arrive to the US.
I'd like to wait until a week before I leave for the US and, if it's not shipped yet, cancel my order and get one at Office Depot. Will Lenovo let me cancel my order and refund me completely?
