Will T42 or T43 support the future Microsoft Vista? Or only Due core processor can support it? Thanks,
I like thinkpad since 2001.

Almost anything that runs XP will run Vista, you just may not get the slick graphics for those. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think you need a DirectX 9 capable graphics card to run the Aero Glass.

This was the most detailed article I found on it:

Looks like 64MB RAM, 32-bit color, and descrite graphics are possibly the BASELINE.

I think t42 with 9600 would be good enough.
but t43 with x300 just kind of weak to run it.

Both 9600 and X300 should be sufficient for Vista's fancy graphics theme.

Love the John Lennon reference.

According to Mictosoft, the T43 is a good computer to test vista on. Especially with the x300.

The T42 and T42p (MR9600 and FireGL T2) both run the latest Vista CTP build just fine, albeit somewhat slow. The T42p does a much better job with Glass simply because it has more video memory. The T43 with X300 runs Vista fine as well. The ATI MR7500 and MR9000 will NOT run Glass (you need a DirectX 9 chip that supports shaders and other features, and the MR7500/9000 don't), nor will the Intel Media Graphics 900 (although the 950 supposedly can handle Glass, assuming you have alot of RAM for it to share).
