Odd T30 CDRW Problem - Phantom CD?

#1 Post by kjarrett » Mon Jul 19, 2004 5:02 pm

Created the first CD in my T30 the other day. Worked fine. Tried the disc in another PC and it appeared blank. Tried it in yet another and the directory appeared for a second or two (I recognized the file names) and then it went blank. Anyone seen anything like this before? Not sure it's repoducable, that's my next test. Thanks, kj

Sounds like the CDRW drive is bordeline (either in alignment or burning power). Could just be a (very) bad choice of media. This is more common with CDRW media than CDR media.

You may need Adaptec's UDF reader to read CDRW disks on older systems (non-XP) although a newer OS may support them. You also need a multi-read optical drive (most newer drives are multi-read). I've had several drives would read every CDR I've ever written but a couple that just would not read CDRWs.
