Chrome plating my T41p

#1 Post by Toine » Fri Feb 17, 2006 11:39 am

I'm about to chrome plate my T41p, but was wondering if anybody has some pics of disasembling the top lcd cover lid. That would be handy for removing it, without doing harm to my beauty.

Yeah, I know thanks for the tip. I already found it. But I was wondering if anyone has experience with this. And has actual pictures of it. (works a lot easier).

Does anybody know from what material the covers are made Exactly?

some crapy pics of the just polished LCD cover. It gives the idea away preatty good. It will get chromed or get a powder coating, but not sure yet.
What colour would you pick for your thinkpad? Let me know in this thread.

Now that is pretty awesome; if I were to get one of these, would you include the SL500? ;) :)

Yup; I actually had that as a Desktop Backbround for awhile too...If I don't have the IBM Atlas up, it is either a Porsche 911 or that. :)

But the question is, what colour would you give your Thinkpad?

I would stick to black; but I wouldn't mind a black titanium look or a chromed look too much. :)

So the LCD lid was made of carbon fibre? Like real carbon, or a sticker?

Well, after almost two years of loving my T41p I finally made the choice to send the lid to the chromer.

I hope to get it soon.......Of course with pics and everything.

PS: Way old thread!

I love the look of the Thinkpads and wouldn't change anything. That being said I would go for some translucent plastics as long as it was that dark grey / smoke color.

Post some hi-res pics when you get the machine back together.

That is a heck of a long wait!! I'm a traditionalist as well and wouldn't change any of the colours of my TPs :) But I'll be keen to see how yours turns out, Toine :)
