T40 Flash memory question

#1 Post by fjs08 » Sat Feb 18, 2006 3:26 pm

I have a card reader that I use in the PC slot of my ThinkPad t40. I basically have used it to insert SD cards from my digital camera to transfer photos to the notebook. I was thinking of using a Flash Memory card/key disk to back up information. Does anyone know if I use a SD memory card in the reader, and leave it in the ThinkPad, will the heat of the notebook damage the card. The computer is on pretty much from 5am to 9pm daily. My wife uses a Key Chain Disk type in her ThinkPad t40, and leaves it in constantly. Hers is on the same amount of time as mine. The Key Disk functions well being plugged into the USB port of the notebook. I thought that using the SD card would save me the "trouble" of having to pull it in and out when I go to the office each day.
Any thoughts. Thanks.

I have a Sandisk pcmcia card reader in my t42 and my t30 with 512m cards in them, use these for work. Never had any problems. And yes it is very convenient :)
