Hell yeah its a good deal. Is it new? If its not better call IBM with the sn and check if its stolen. I do that with all used thinkpads that I buy. You can also get the computers history out of them.

That's a decent deal. I got a T42 2374-3VU from UPenn for 1900 (no tax because i had it shipped). The specs are similar, except that i have the dvd multiburner and an 80 gig hard drive, but no bluetooth. My computer also came with 3 years of onsite service and 3 years of the the thinkpad accident protection warranty.

That being said, you are still getting yours at a significant discount. :D
T42 2374-3VU ~$1900 :)

Is it possible for non-students to buy from the ibm site that sells for harvard/clemson/etc.. universities?

I found the link to IBM site that sells these nootbooks, do they really check if you are a student?

yes, they check and audit.... not only would they eventually charge you the difference if you managed to fool them up-front, but it is fraud... not worth it, there are good deals out there..

Leon, how do they check and audit? I am a student and I purchased off a site. I think I am part of the same state contract, but I'm not sure.
