Why does my screen flicker off, when I wake it from sleeping

#1 Post by kuma » Mon Feb 20, 2006 12:10 am

I'm not sure what I did but...now whenever I wake my computer from sleeping, it turns on fine. But then about 5 seconds later it turns off for a second and then turns back on. Any ideas why? What is the Graphic Device Power Management in my Battery Maximizer? Should I have it checked or not?

My T43 (2687 GGU) does the same thing. After speaking with tech. support, they said to send it in to be fixed....so I did...two weeks later my T43 is back with a new motherboard, a new flexy palmrest, and a few other "new things".

I fired it up and ....nothing has changed. The screen goes blank (as it should when conserving battery power) then resumes when I start using it again. then goes blank, then on again. SO MAYBE THEY ALL DO THAT ?

Check you have the right frequency for your graphics card. This happened when you switch from external monitor to the lcd and the graphics card will not switch. It happened to me too when undocking after sleep mode but I now working ok.

I have screwed around with the settings. But I don't know what I did, rather I didn't really try to change anything.

At my old job where we had Dell D610s they all did the exact same thing... they all had ATi video cards. I've not noticed my t43p to do that though it also has an ATi card but not the same as the Dell did. I found out that the ones we had were ATI mobility radeon x300

How do check to see if I have the right frequency?

I just did Fn F7 and set it to factory default. Then went in and saw that it is set for the color quality to 16 bit. Though there is an option for 32 bit. Why is that?

I think mine does that two. It was after the last updates of software. Maybe on of them causes that. power manager?
