T41p - What is a planar card?

I have a T41p, and I had to send it back to IBM recently because the LCD screen would flicker when I moved it. These are the parts they replaced:

LCD Assembly
LCD Cable
Planar Card
Plastic Part

I know what all of these are except the "planar card." Is that another name for a motherboard? It sounds like a mobo replacement for this problem is a bit extreme. But it works now so I guess I can't complain. Anyone know?

What they replace was the motherboard planar is the way the people from IBM call it.
