Latest T41p users: Please help deciding the recovery pack

Hi,

I have just ordered my T41p German model (TC1GHGE) in student discount in Germany. This model is the usual T41p, but with 6 cell battery. IBM Germany can ship only German language recovery pack to me.

Now, I want to get the English T41p recovery CDs from Bill, but I want to know the latest recovery pack for a new T41p which I'll receive after 2 weeks so that I get the latest updated drivers with all new bug fixes and goodies.

* Can somebody help me deciding the recovery pack (how many CDs, etc.) that best suits a new model?

* What'll be the "manufactured-date" for my T41p that I may probably receive?

* Do I have to wait until my T41p arrives to decide the recovery pack? OR the latest pack works without any problem for a new T41p?

I asked Bill, and he also has to think & sort out the right ones that he has.

I think it highly unlikely that Bill, or anyone else for that matter, will be able to order YOUR recovery CD's. After all it's not really Bills job to order something for a machine not purchased thru him, is it...

There's only one for the T41/42 machines...

Read above - there aren't multiple recovery packs available.

Sure, Bill can copy a CD for you, if he want's to, but you have to at least do something here - or would you prefer one of us to fly over and do the updates for you?

Thought it's NOT Bill's job, he already does it for a small fee $30+shipping. I confirmed it from him, and he has the problem in selection. Since it's an education offer, it's beneficial in price, and so getting the recovery pack from somebody else is the choice to keep me up & running. I really beg it from Bill.

NOT TRUE. The latest ones for T42 come in 8 CDs and the old ones for T41 less in nos. Likewise, there may be a difference in T41p old version & the updated. I need a clarification on this.

Those who got the latest thinkpads in Europe, OR most probably in US at this time are likely to receive the same ones. At least, different people can explain their packs and discuss the difference! It may also help upgrading the old drivers of machines supplied last year.

There ARE multiple packs. Probably, the part different nos in the document posted by zeitgeist are different for T42 & T41 machines. If you are sure about your point, just give me a small proof please!

If this is sorted out now, I can get & install the OS when I get my machine. Otherwise, I have to wait few more weeks to get it done.

Since Bill has a small confusion to check the latest packs that he have, and their respective total CD nos, I posted this to know about it. I NEVER ask anybody like you fly over here. Did I? Everybody comes here for the forum wants to know/share something, and the person who knows the right answer SHOULD have little patience to answer the questions. He himself may have few questions to ask someone as well. One who doesn’t have to ask or losses patience, probably knows many wrong things about the subject.

First of all, thank you very much for linking me to this document. Probably, when I searched in little time in IBM site, I might have missed this document. Probably you may show me from the document if it says X No of CDs for a specific model, etc. and their different supplied versions. That was the actual question. There are quite a few drivers with updates versions, probably only a few CD packs.

BTW, no need to admire anybody’s patience here as long as Bill demarcates the advanced questions & easily answerable questions (which are not available in forum search/ any FAQ here), and bans the latter.
