Thinkpad Dock II and Dual Monitors

#1 Post by T23_Owner » Tue Jul 20, 2004 7:29 pm

Can I hook up two 21.3in flat panel samsung 213T LCD monitors to the back of my Thinkpad Dock II with a T42p docked in it and have the expanded desktop or will I see the same image on both monitors. I will ofcourse be pluging in one DVI and one VGA connector in the back as the monitors have both connectors. Also the monitor is a UXGA resolution.

These badboys are $999 at best buy this week so I figured what the hell.

*pushing this up a little*

I'd be interested in doing just about the same thing.
Any hints?

I could to totally wrong on this, but I think you need the doc not the mini-doc and add another video card in the 1/2 height pci slot in order to run dual displays.

They way I understand it is the video ports for all the docs are just pass through, so you can't run dual displays (unless you count your thinkpad lcd as a second display.) I used to have a dual 21" CRT system that I could testing this on, but had to give one up due to desk space.

Any confirmation on this?

Same image from VGA.

You can get 1 image on the screen and another on both monitors.

Theoretically - you can probably get a different desktop on DVI - but the current drivers don't allow that.

As stated - if you add a PCI video card to a full-size dock - then you can do 2 monitors.

Have you tried ATI Hydravision?
I have a feeling it might allow it.
