Berserk QCTRAY.EXE using 99% CPU

#1 Post by makai » Thu Feb 23, 2006 7:26 pm

Hello,

I did a search but couldn't locate anything on the topic.

Anyways, today while surfing the internet, I noticed my temp (using CHC to monitor) jumped up to 54 degrees and my CPU was running at 1.6GHz.

I checked my processes and found that QCTRAY was at 99% CPU usage (???). I immediately killed QCTRAY and the CPU toggled back down to 600MHz. No other apps were running so this was quite strange.

Anyone ever see this happen on their machine?

BTW, I'm running IBM Access Connections ver 3.30. I know there's a new version out, but I'm more concerned whether anyone has ever experienced this before.

thanks,
makai

Which wireless adapter do you have? Intel 2200bg, Intel 2915abg, Atheros?

Thanks for the links, GomJabbar! It does shed some light on the subject, but apparently no fixes. It could be that my signal was low, but I swear I had all green bars when it happened. This is the first time I've ever seen this so it was a bit of a shocker!

It's so ironic! I originally purchased the IBM a/b/g due to recommendations over the Intel. The more I read, the more I see problems with the IBM. Of course, I also see problems with the Intel! I guess, things are never that easy! Choose one or the other and get what you get!! LOL!!

I'll keep an eye on it for a while and if I start seeing this regularly, I'll start searching for more answers.

Thanks again!
