I just purchase 128mb to go with the existing 128mb for my T21 (XP Pro), it's been crawling for long enough!
However it says (in Windows and BIOS) that I still only have 128mb.
The new memory card works ok, I've tested it by replacing the existing card. The cards are firmly seated in their slots.
How can I persuade my thinkpad that I have 256mb installed now?
Thanks and Regards
Mark
Why won't my new 128mb of memory show up?
Is it PC100, because that's what the T21 uses... I couldn't get my old T21 to use PC133, even though I thought it would simply run at slower speed on the T21.
So if your original memory can work in either memory slot, that should rule out the slots being faulty. But if your new stick of RAM can work in either slot when the original is out, then it may have something to do with the memory timing on the new RAM, or the new RAM could just be faulty. I always pay the premium for RAM from IBM directly, just to avoid most of these issues.
Good luck.
Daniel.

Yes, I was content with the RAM, it was genuine IBM and identical to the existing stick.
Actually, I downloaded an updated BIOS. That didn't work at first but after several removing, inserting, and rebooting... IT WORKED! I wish I could say exactly what I did. Dogged persistence, and a calm temperament perhaps?
I guess the new BIOS helped, but as I said, it still took three attempts before it would work.
Daniel, thanks for the reply. I thought PC133 was a different size? I also have an A30 with PC133. Next week that'll get some more RAM as well, if I can find a good price.
