MAC Address Change, with new intel wireless driver

#1 Post by diaz1023 » Mon Feb 27, 2006 12:12 am

Has anybody had their mac address change by itself with the new driver for the intel 2200, i downloaded it with software installer and it changes the mac address, causes the wireless not to work and the computer shows that it is on, the led, but using fn+f5 shows that it is off. I uninstalled AC 4.11a and updated that driver and it continues to do this, reinstalled ac 4.11a and problem still exists. computer was running fine before 4.11a and the current intel driver for the 2200 now i am back using the original driver,

I have t40, 2373-94u
1.5 gig ram
upgraded from 2100 to 2200 card sometime ago

do any of you any way to correct the issue or anyone that could help

Take a look at the Sticky for the new driver at the top of this forum. It explains what I did. Fn + F5 works fine for me. I am still not in range of a WiFi signal, so I can't test anymore yet. I haven't see the MAC address problem.

If by not working you mean not being able to connect to your wireless network, then you probably have MAC Address Filtering ENABLED on your firewall/router.

Login to your firewall/router and add the NEW MAC address Windows shows for your machine.

Start>Run>CMD>ipconfig /all
The MAC is listed as the "Physical Address" under the adapter.

I said above that I have not seen this problem. Actually I was referring to myself. I have seen another thread where they report this problem after an upgrade, and they were able to get it resolved by cleaning leftovers out of the registry with a VB script or registry cleaner program. You can read about it yourself in the following thread. greghead used the VB script successfully, and helloguys and cerebral_mamba fixed their systems with Your Uninstaller 2006.
