#1 Post by u.vivarelli » Tue Feb 28, 2006 8:18 am

i've bought an hd for my t43p on ebay.

This is a hitachi 7k60 60gb became from a t42p an the date of "born" of the hd is 03/2005.

In your opinion, there will be the error 2010 at the startup of the bios?????

I my opinion, yes, unless you bought the part from IBM as a FRU part. You should get the 2010 error.

I've pulled several hdd's from T42's and haven't seen the 2010 error, though all the drives were dated after May, 2005. the T43 shipped in February, 2005, so it could go either way.

check this thread for more info if you do get the 2010:

Nevermind I reread your post. Forgive me for not understanding you. Provided the 7k60 was purchased from IBM/Lenovo (meaning original came with your thinkpad) you will have IBM/Lenovo firmware and be fine. If the drive was a thrid party add-on that you bought from someone else other than IBM/Lenovo, then you will get the 2010 error. Getting the 2010 error isn't that big of a deal. Plus you can apply the firmware if need be. It is fairly easy.

If this HD is acturally from a T42p, then you won't see the 2010 error. I'm sure of that.

The compatibility limitation for T43's HD is just a fake story
