any way to get recoverd CD's or DVD fast?

#1 Post by nikemen » Wed Mar 01, 2006 2:08 pm

So, based on my failed 60GB Hitachi drive, I now have to install the OS and Thinkpad again on a 2379 T42, with Fingerprint reader.

So, IBM sends me a new drive, the CD's are BO'd for a week or more!

Anyway to get them faster?
anyone have ISO files of the CD's?
thanks
n

T40/41/42 all use the same system board. at worst, youll have to install drivers for a different wireless chipset, provided the two machines used different wireless chipsets. the T41 CD's will be fine.
Thinkpad T60 2613-CTO (2\4m\667, 3GB, 200GB 7200, DVD-RW DL, SXGA+, 3945ABG, 128MB x1400, GBe, BT IV)
Thinkpad T40 2373-PU7 (1.7\2m\400, 2GB, 120GB 5400, DVD\CDRW, SXGA+, Intel 2915ABG, 32MB MR7500, GBe, BT II)
Thinkpad T23 2648-PS1 (1.2, 512mb, 2915ABG)

anyknow know what the Resinstall process is?

I have loaded, apparently ALL the cds' and now I seem to be in the this IBM R&R startup loop, it never boots up to an XP login or anything, or to the FRESH FROM FACTORY startup.

I just get back to the Welcome to IBM R&RWITHRR startup.

thoughts?

all the times i have done it after the cds are done loading it reboots to start unloading windows, then reboots to start the windows install, during this process you will see a windows desktop and a list of tasks being performed in the upper right hand corner.

that is my experience too, but don't know why that is not the case in the this case.

I DO see the D:\ partition, don't know what that one is, and a C:\ partition, neither of which seem more than 500mb, or 4500mb.
strange

anyone recommend another COMPLETE reinstall process?
