education discount verification

has anyone ever used an educational discount when buying thier thinkpad from IBM?

and if so were you verified as a student before making the purchase?

if you were verified, was it before, or after the purchase, and what materials do i need to complete authentication?

they maintain electronic lists from the schools they have agreements with... in some cases when records are not available or complete, they will check with your school sometime after they ship...... when I got one in the past, I was contacted by IBM Financial Controls about a month later.... seems my school had made a mistake in my ID # and IBM thought my order was invalid (after I had it)... got straightened out though...
