Undock hibernating TP4x?

#1 Post by Edward Mendelson » Fri Mar 03, 2006 3:12 pm

This is a very small issue, but I'd be grateful for any advice.

I have a T42 that spends most of its time in a ThinkPad Dock II. When I leave the office, I hibernate the T42, and then remove it from the dock and put it in a locked cabinet. The problem is this: the only way that I know how to remove the T42 from the dock seems more complicated than it should be:

I first hibernate the machine; then hold down the release button on the dock - and this causes the machine to turn on again. I then hold down the power button for a few seconds until the machine turns on again - and only then the latch opens and I can remove the ThinkPad.

Is there a way of undocking the ThinkPad without turning it on and then off again?

(And, yes, this really is the only problem I've ever had with this combination, and it's not really a problem - only an annoyance.)
