Questions on DVD Multiburner

Hi,

I'm looking for informations on the IBM DVD Burner in T42p.
I know, the drive is not the fastest one, but that's ok for me.

I think, more important is the quality of the burnt discs.
Are you satisfied with them? Burns the drive well at 2x speed or have you to switch to single speed while burning dvds? Gets the drive along with every dvd-r/-rw or are special discs necessary?

Your opinions?

ive used multiple brands of -R, all work perfectly, im quite happy with the quality of this burner, Panasonic has always been known for their good laptop drives

This UJ-812B MultiDVD Burner looks pretty cool. I got mine today. Will test it soon.

Is there a firmware update, which makes it compatible to burn DVD+/RW?
