IBM ThinkPad T40 (2373-PU7) Recovery CDs

Hi,
Im wondering if anyone has the recovery CDs for a ThinkPad T40, also willing to know if you can make me a copy for mine or probably work something out. My ThinkPad T40 is dead right now and not being able to use it due to loosing the Recovery CDs. Really need to get it back in working order since I need it for school. Any help will gladly be appreciated.

Sorry, I don't have them.
It is too bad IBM/Lenovo does not include recovery CDs in the notebook package when we buy brand-new notebooks from them...
But if your laptop is in warranty, you can buy recovery CDs from IBM customer service directly. They'll charge you $40 or $50 for them.

Without warranty, they'll not even sell them to you...

This is so bad, since im not in warranty.

Im sure someone in here in the forum has them. I will pay them a fee via Paypal if neccessary. I will appreciate it

i have the t41 cd ,and i think it will work with t40,but how can i sent it to you ,msn file transfer?

I don't think that the T41 recovery cds are ok for T40; I have the disks for T41 and I found in mfg/values.txt (on the first cd) the following values:

"Name: T41,T41p,R50,R50p"

There is relatively little difference between a T40 and a T41, mostly the gigabit network adapter, so a T40 recovery disk set is quite workable with a T41. At best there will be a few extra drivers to install after the recovery installation in complete.

The T4X series of recovery CDs are usable across the entire range of models. The only differences you'll encounter will be how many updates you'll need to download and install from IBM/Lenovo.

I've used T43 CDs on a T40 and vice versa with no problems after updating via the Software Installer.

To the OP, send me a PM with your address and I'll see if I can't get a set for your T40 off to you.

I've tried and it says I cannot restore because there are no restore points or something to that effect...and it wont restore to factory setting either
