Plan to upgrade hard driver

#1 Post by mlli4 » Tue Mar 07, 2006 9:40 pm

I have a T42(23746vu). It comes with a 40GB hard driver. After one year and half, it begins to give some anoying clicks. I am thinking about upgrading it to 60GB or 80GB. But from the previous post, I see there might be some issues with the upgrade. Is it safe to upgrade it a Fujistu MHV2060AH, which is relatively new so not listed in the hard driver firmware update ?

you can use any standard 2.5" hard drive (not driverR) in your T42. people with firmware issues have T43's.

Hi,

I have a R52 thinkpad and would like to upgrade from a 40gb drive to a 60gb drive. Will the above hdd work in this thinkpad? I have tried but keeps giving some stupid bios error.

Fujitsu MHV drives (specifically the MVH2040 and MVH2080 models) have been supplied as standard with specific T41 and T43 models from IBM/Lenovo, so there should be no issues with using a MHV2060AH with a T42.

Cheers,

Bill

I am unfamiliar with R52 BIOS errors so I can't help you there, but in case you didn't know, 80GB drives are only slightly more expensive 60GB ones.
