Ultrabay battery - does it need a driver?

#1 Post by awolfe63 » Thu Jul 22, 2004 4:43 pm

I just get a T42 and bought an Ultrabay battery from Pinnacle Technology (from a link on the forum). The battery meter just says "error". Is there supposed to be a battery driver? Is it just a dud? (It shows up in the device manager)

I hate to resurrect an old thread, but I am glad I found this one (and another that I already closed).

In short, I thought my new ultra-bay battery I'd gotten off of eBay was bad. Found 2 things to help.

First, the hot swap may have been part of my problem. However, I think as well that it might not really check out "Battery 2" until it has charged up "Battery 1" all the way. And since I had just popped in a new "Battery 1" as well, it was still charging that. I tried rebooting with my original "Battery 1" and it identified the new "Battery 2" now.

Now with the new "Battery 1" in as well, both 1 & 2 are recognizing fine. And since I tested out both theories at once, I have no idea which was to blame. But at least it's working now....
