T40 Running Very Slow

After logging in with ID and password the laptop takes for ever to come up to the desktop. Any solutions?

Take a look at how many start up programs you have running at start up
Start > run > msconfig > startup, there may be some stuff there you can do without, if you have norton this would be par for the course (sarcasm but some fact). If you are logging on to a network that may be another issue of getting a new IP address, etc.
