Center (scrolling) button stopped working

#1 Post by venik » Fri Mar 10, 2006 5:34 am

The center (scrolling) button on my new T43p (WinXP-sp2), which was working fine for a few weeks, has stopped working. I have reinstalled the driver, but that did not solve the problem. The other buttons work fine, aa does the pointing stick.
I just noticed now that the scrolling strips along the side and bottom of the touchpad does not work either... ;-(
Any ideas?

Im not sure the touchpad has scrolling strips, but if one of hte trackpoint buttons is plain not working, call up IBM and tell them about it. theyll overnight you a new keyboard.

Run the Ultranav Wizard and try changing schemes (depending on your model and software version, there are several pre-loaded, and you can save your own).

The center button can be set to scroll, magnify, or neither. NOT that has happened to you, but....

Of course I ran the Ultranav wizard, but it didnot help. It allows you to define a scroll strip along the side and bottom of the touchpad.
I sent the machine to IBM, after their technician "determined" on the phone that the keyboard and touchpad were defective. After two days (!) it was returned as reparied, but it behave EXACTLY as it did before-- scroll not working, and keys (on both the trackpoint and touchpad) not working occasionally until I hit Cntrl-Alt-Delete.
I am certain now that it is a software problem, but I do not know how to fix it.

Thanks for any suggestion.
